Inspiration

Sir Sway: Basically he is saying go with your gut.  Let your style reflect who you are, where you come from and have fun with it.

Queen's Homecoming

Mr. Mobile: This past weekend was the Queen's University homecoming. This annual event essentialy defines what is prestigious. It has an extremely old history, including many a tradition and event, and is home to the infamous Aberdeen street party. This, my Queen's Homecoming "super-post" contains pictures and video from the weekend. Enjoy.

So let's start it off with something the first of the two main events, the football game. Queen's has amazing school spirit and has traditionally had a very successful football team, so the homecoming game is a big deal. The game features  great football, the Queen's band, three types of cheerleaders, and an exciting half time show. The engineers (well known for being the craziest faculty at Queen's) attend breakfast keggers before the game, and die themselves purple from head to toe. At half time they go out into the middle of the field and literally start a giant mosh.

The other main event, the Aberdeen street party, has very recently become a little out of control. In the past people with no affiliation to Queen's flood to the city for this party. Aberdeen is a tiny little street just north of the Queen's campus. In recent years the party has gotten so out of control (a car was set on fire a few years ago) that hundreds of extra police come to the city to help control the event. It's gotten to the point now where your not actually allowed on the street, or on the sidewalk with alcohol, and many students are arrested. This year mounted cops actually rode onto lawns and herded people off the streets or into houses.

Tanner Goods

Sir Sway: These leather articles are handcrafted using the same principles and patterns as the cowboys did for their saddles.  For the past 45 years, a saddle maker has mastered the art of leather refinery and has generously passed it on the Tanner Goods team.  By keeping it simple and using the same tools which have been practiced on for the past few decades, the Tanner team has brought an old fashion aesthetic to each piece. The leather they use - vegetable tanned English bridle American leather -  is seldom used for leather crafting and keeps their pieces original and slightly different from other companies.  This company has copied wine companies and cheese companies from all over the world... in some sense.  This is the ultimate and perfect leather for aging and changing colour, which will give each accessory its own distinction.

Clean is Key

Sir Sway: Designed in London, England and worn throughout the world, Uniform Wares look clean, chic, and simple.  Each watch is crafted under the eyes of people instead of the rubber belt of a machine.  Uniform Wares are tailored with one thing in mind- consistency.  From their reliability to their simplistic looks, each watch is meant to be worn for everyday use whether you are out on a date, having a picnic, or just relaxing outside. Some watches have leather straps and some have rubber so depending on the usage in mind, that may help.  The leather that they use is Italian calf which means it will be incredibly soft and will age unbelievably; forming to your wrist within a week then poring (when the pores in the skin start to really show) within a month.  Check’em out.

The Jeans

Mr. Mobile: Sat next to this guy in a physics lecture. His jeans fit well, and he wears them so that when he sits down they show just a little ankle. I also love the beat up shell toes.

Vandalism or Art

Sir Sway: As far as graffiti goes, this is definitely not the best. But when I see a creative piece - like this - I smile.  This film is about a street artist who carries the name of Banksy.  He is incredible and actually has pieces all over the world. 1 or 2 are in Toronto!

All About the Boots

Mr. Mobile: Sometimes, all you need is some boots. Take this girl for example. She's rockin' some jeans, a classic grey sweater, and some kick ass boots; which all come together to make a sick outfit.

Naked & Famous

Sir Sway: Naked & Famous is changing the face of the denim world.  Being one of the youngest raw denim brands, they have some of the most modern ideas in fabricating denim.  They keep all their looks clean and simple by carrying out a policy of no washes, no embroidery, and no gimmicks.  All jeans are innovated very creatively by adding subtle things to make all their jeans unique in feel and fit, an example is adding cashmere. They also keep their logo comical by making face against Hollywood and how expensive shitty jeans can be.  The jeans are created/made in Canada while their fabrics are imported from several mills in Japan.  They keep their prices low and after recently coming out with the thickest pair EVER (32 oz. which is thicker than cardboard The 32 oz. ), they are still running under $250.  Thanks N & F for keeping the denim game prestigious.

University

Mr. Mobile: Going to a party in a university dorm room is no reason to step down your style. Be careful of spills and go for it. Check out this guy's style. Cardigan and skinny jeans, so dope.

Alife Fall/Winter Collection

Sir Sway: Check out this little thing alife did. Its pretty cool

Nilou's Affairs

Sir Sway: Yes, this is a fashion blog but at the same time we would like to promote people's hidden talent. And although Nilou has helped me a lot with my photography, I will never be able to capture shots and recognize hidden beauty like she can. So if there are any people who have stuff they wish to be posted feel free to send us an email.

Nilou's Affairs

Sir Sway: As promised, Nilou sent in a few of her photography shots.  She told me to only pick the ones I liked, but I thought each deserves a place in a studio, so all will be posted.  I will be posting four everyday.  Check'em out.

G.O.O.D. Fridays

Mr. Mobile: So by now you should have heard of something called G.O.O.D. Fridays. Anyway,  G.O.O.D. Fridays is this thing Kanye is doing where he releases a new track every Friday for free on his blog. Some of them are off his upcoming album, others from his upcoming collaboration album with Jay-Z, and others are just tracks he's made for fun. What I'm here to say is: THEY'RE AWSOME. My personal favorite so far came out this past Friday and is actually titled Good Friday. Anyway, here is a link to Kanye's blog where you can download any of the G.O.O.D. Friday tracks for free. There are more to come too so check it regularly.

Fall Lookbooks

Sir Sway: Sorry for the wait but frosh week is over, so everything is calming down again. The season of fashion is arriving momentarily.  Some things to think about when dressing for fall - layer your layers. It's simple and it completes a look.  Layering can be as simple as putting a cardigan over a dress shirt.  Another sick piece most people should have is leather.  If you think you look like a biker then you're not getting it at the right place.  And if you wait any longer to get one, the price will increase. However, last year I waited til after Christmas and got mine for $150 from Danier marked down from $450, so if your patient do that. Some lookbooks that I really like:

Frosh Week

Mr. Mobile: This is just a heads up. Sir Sway and I are both heading out to our respective universities this week and will be a little preoccupied with frosh week. So, posts may come a little less frequently for the next week. However, once we're both settled in get prepared for some dope blogging.
